ADRIAN YOUNGE WATCH THE CHILDREN

"The most important creative accomplishment of my life", L.A composer and producer Adrian Younge's new album, American Negro is out now, and contains a whopping 26 tracks consisting of vibrant jazz compositions and racially insightful monologues that offer an in-depth perspective and dig deep into the effects of racism on black Americans. We were blown away a few weeks ago by the release of title single 'American Negro', anticipating the release of this album. 'Watch the Children' is another track on this record that embraces the beauty of jazz. As if you're in some kind of a blissful slumber under the beating sun, the song is made from luscious strings, piano, sax, and colourful bass. Group vocals offer a sense of unity and optimism that's so powerful in the context of this album. The album cover art is "a recreation of “Lynching Postcards” that became very popular to celebrate the murder of African Americans at the hands of White Americans as vigilante justice at the turn of the last century, with no judicial reprisals; in addition, they served as warning signs against any person of color seeking to eradicate racial inequality". Check out 'Watch the Children', and the rest of American Negro. -Ellie Rose-Davies
